In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. Genesis 1:1
We are the only creatures on earth with a self-aware concept of time; why else would we waste time digging up ruins and hunting for fossils? I remember my first mission trip to Belize in 1981 where I learned that some cultures have different concepts of time–“We will pick you up at 9am!” They thought they were on time, but noon seems late to me! Everything we count important is somehow connected to time! Happy Birthday? But before there was a beginning, before there was time, there was God!…Wonder!!! I try to imagine God looking at all of time like you and I look at a ruler or the line at Torchy’s.
“…he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.”Ephesians 1:4
That God saw me and chose me before there was a single shining star is too wonderful for me to grasp! Jesus who is the creative Word of God created and sustains the universe and this thing we call time. This same infinite Son of God would ultimately enter our timeline just to redeem us!
But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. Galatians 4:4-5
Before there was time God had your new birth in mind and he gloried in your salvation that He arranged to be perfectly timed for all of Heaven. Your salvation is so awesome that all the angels rejoiced at your new birth! Marvel in the fact that the Sovereign God saved you, gave you a new heart, clothed you in the righteousness of Christ, and adopted you as His own in a specific moment in time; God knew that moment before there was a universe!
I suspect God also knew this Coronavirus would happen! So, even though we can’t turn back time to the days before Corona, we can rest well knowing that God is always on time and His purposes will not be thwarted….especially His purpose to redeem us and adopt us as sons and daughters! Maybe during Corona-time God will use you to lead someone to faith in Christ! That would be a really good time!
