The church at Sardis reminded us of what not to become i.e. “Dead“. The church in Philadelphia, shows us what we should strive for, and want to become.
Revelation 3:8 (ESV)8 “… Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut. I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.
The church in Philadelphia was known for its obedience and single-minded focus on being a church that kept God’s Word even if it meant that they would suffer hardships as a result. That’s the kind of church that we should strive to be too. I say that because when we are obedient, God increases our influence and He will (like he did for the Philadelphians), give us an open door to the nations and our inheritance.
